Minnesota lacrosse Even though Minnesota is synonymous for its water sport activities due to its numerous water bodies, it still has several other sporting activities that are not water related. Lacrosse is a game played using sticks-like equipment known as cross.

The game resembles hockey but players use the Cross, a long pole with a net at the end. Some of the protective equipment used in lacrosse differs slightly with hockey protective equipment. Lacrosse is one of the most fascinating sporting activities.

The Minnesota Lacrosse Association aims to unify, promote, develop and foster equal representation of men’s and women’s lacrosse in Minnesota. There is the Youth Lacrosse of Minnesota that organizes the youth boy’s lacrosse league in Minnesota. It involves boys in second grade through to eighth grade. The girl’s lacrosse youth league is organized for middle school girls Lacrosse Association. Founded in the year 2003, the Schoolgirls Association focuses on facilitating competitive play for the middle school teams with emphasis on skills development and sportsmanship.

Minnesota lacrosse The annual Homegrown Lacrosse Fall Recruitment Workshop presents the golden opportunity to the eighth grade players aiming at being part of the grand collegiate program. All the local and national coaches, academic experts and trainers attend the workshop to shed light on the recruitment procedures and requirements so as to ensure a smooth process come recruitment day.

There are also exhibitions that feature academic and recruitment services. Organizations that are involved in different ways in lacrosse also exhibit their products and services during the workshop.

The Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association focuses on organizing spring season lacrosse leagues for the sixth graders through to the twelfth graders, the end of year play off tournaments, the awards event for the varsity team and players. The association also organizes coaching clinics in an effort to improve and ensure high standards of the game. It provides liability insurance for the Association and its members.

A perfect lacrosse game is a game where; both teams are well coached hence have a great mastery of the rules and keep the game safe; well played meaning that there is proper use of the basics of the game with minimal penalties and great passing of the ball across the field; well officiated in that the referee ensures proper use of rules and stresses on the safety of the players. The referee should be in the right position and make right calls; a perfect lacrosse game is capped with respectful fans watching it.

While on the pitch players are required to have the following equipment; lacrosse helmet, a visible mouth piece preferably not white or colorless, shoulder pads, arm pads, rib pads, shin guard, cleats, chest protector and a lacrosse throat protector for the goalkeeper. The crosse used during play must be between 40 to 42 inches long for attack men and midfielders. For the defense men it should be between 52 to72 inches in length. The head of the cross must be between 6.5 to 10 inches wide. The butt heads with hollow shafts must be plugged on the end to prevent injuries.

Lacrosse is one of the sporting activities one should try while in Minnesota. There are no individual memberships in the Youth Lacrosse of Minnesota or Middle School Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association; one has to be a member of a community program. There is an annual renewal form that are filled and submitted before the start of a new lacrosse league season.
