You can even choose to get better acquainted with the sled dogs, feeding, handling and learning the ropes in mushing a pack of sled dogs.

And to make things more exciting, many of the outfits can arrange customized group trips, while individuals can sign up for scheduled trips. The trips can take a few hours to several days, and may include stays at cozy lodges or winter camping. Dog sled outfits in Duluth and Two Harbors offer rides as short as an hour, but half or full day rides are the norm.

So, donít sit back. Get out and experience the beauty of winter as you cruise atop sled runners powered by a pack of Alaskan sled dogs eager to be on your team. And to proove this, as you ride the sleds, you can hear the dogs left behind howling, perhaps complaining that this was their turn. It seems that the sled dogs love the sport as much as those who get hooked.
